Quintessential coastal living, world-class fishing, peace, and total relaxation awaits with a breathtaking backdrop of tidal waters and beaches, snow-capped mountains, glaciers, and Tongass National Forrest. Welcome to Yakutat, the smallest southeast Alaska community served twice daily by a major airline. Time slows down and the important things in life become a priority. With Native Alaskan and World War 2 history, Yakutat is now a sport fishing mecca, home to some of the best steelhead, salmon, halibut, and cod fishing in the world. Other attractions include surfing, birding, wildlife viewing and photography. Book a stay with one of several full-service lodges in town and view this property while you enjoy life. For those on a tight schedule, a day trip to view the property and community can be made from Juneau, Anchorage or Seattle. A 4-mile drive from the airport on maintained roads brings you to the front door. Pull into one of 4 garage spaces, two in the residence and two in the detached shop, ideal for vehicles or boats. The grand, covered front porch invites you directly into the great room. Inside, you are embraced by the natural beauty of the log surfaces and structure, the vaulted ceiling with an abundance of natural light, an open kitchen with an island, and the inviting wood stove. Animal skins, artifacts on the walls, and all furniture and linens are included in this turn-key retreat. Public water and sewer is an added convenience, while fast WIFI and decent phone service allow you to keep in touch with the outside world. Two bedrooms and a full bathroom on the ground level give a particular sense of safety, warmth and serenity being up close with the large sturdy logs. You and your guests may never experience a better night's sleep. Down the hallway and through a door, a large mudroom between the living space and garage serves many purposes, from laundry to space for fishing gear. Counters and cabinets provide room for anything from fly tying to processing and packaging fish. The 2-car attached garage has the same vaulted ceiling height as the rest of the home and more living space could be added if desired. The primary suite with a log bed frame is accessed from a flight of open stairs in the great room. A gabled dormer window with a desk makes for a private office. Dressers with wood matching the walls and ceiling, as well as his and hers storage closets provide ample space for clothing and personal belongings. A lofty primary bathroom with a skylight has counter space for two. Completed in 2004, this log home was first constructed in Hope, British Columbia before disassembly and shipment to Yakutat in 7 shipping containers. The approximately 900-square-foot shop was added in 2015. The home and shop sit on .478 acres.
